The national qualification reflects bricklaying, blocklaying and paving work across new and existing residential, commercial and industrial construction, with specialist options shaped by elective selection.
Students develop the technical knowledge, accuracy and hands-on capability required to set out work, handle materials and complete masonry work safely and to expected industry standards.

Plans, set-out and levels
Interpret project information, set out masonry work and use levelling procedures to establish accurate lines, heights, corners and openings.
Core masonry construction
Work with brick and block materials to construct veneer and cavity work, walls, corners, piers, arches and structural masonry systems.
Weatherproofing and specialisation
Install flashings and damp-proof courses, with elective choices able to support heritage brickwork, refractory work or paving outcomes.

The supplied TSC training schedule allocates 960 nominal training hours across 48 training weeks, plus 4 weeks of scheduled term breaks, for a total duration of 52 weeks.
Training and assessment
Coursework combines trainer-led technical learning with practical skill development. Assessment evidence is gathered against the requirements of each unit. TSC provides the current timetable, assessment plan and any practical-location details during the admission and orientation process.

The qualification supports bricklayer, blocklayer and paver outcomes and is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.
TSC's supplied 28-unit schedule includes decorative masonry and heritage-restoration units alongside the core bricklaying and blocklaying skills.
Construction induction is required for construction work, and licensing or regulatory requirements vary by jurisdiction.
Admission is based on the TSC course booklet.
Applicants must satisfy TSC's provider entry criteria even where the national qualification itself lists no formal entry requirements.
Accepted English alternatives include five years of education in an English-speaking country, at least six months of a Certificate IV course at an Australian RTO, a successful English Placement Test, or equivalent PTE/TOEFL results. For Certificate III courses, the booklet also lists CPCCWHS1001 under its academic requirement.
